Saying goodbye to Fethiye.
We were able to get a reasonable photo of the Fethiye Greek Theater from the road out of town. It was rather tucked away in town so the best photo was from the road above.
As part of the resolution of the Greco-Turkish War in the early 1920’s it was agreed that all Greek Orthodox citizens in Turkey and all Turkish and Greek Muslims in Greece would be required to relocate to the other country. This resulted in almost 2 million people were relocated.
Kayakӧy was one of the towns that were evacuated by the Greeks. Some Muslims were relocated here but ultimately abandoned the town. It is now a crumbling ghost town and a UNESCO World Friendship and Peace Village. A rather sad tale with apparently no lessons learned today.

We rested and had some sodas at the local restaurant...
with its resident peacocks and other fancy birds.
Then we headed out for our next stope…Ӧlüdeniz. Ӧlüdeniz has a great beach and is a top paragliding location.
So, we wandered along the beach a bit, looked at a few of the touristy shops and had lunch at a restaurant...
while watching the parasailers land on a strip of land between the beach and the shops…
or sometimes on
the beach itself.

It was a nice, rather relaxing and short
day. The beach and paragliding was a
nice change of pace.
