Turkish breakfasts are huge. They bring out all types of nibbles. This spread is one of the smaller ones after they figured out what we generally don’t eat.
A last few photos of our hotel before we head out today.
We are on the road again today but fortunately the distance isn’t too far. Our first stop was at the Sakilkent Canyon. This is a long, very narrow canyon with super high walls of around 300 meters high. A suspended walkway takes you into the canyon but only for about 200 meters. Unfortunately, to see the rest of the canyon requires a lot of wading in the water.
We could have sat on a table in the water.
Instead, we decided to settle for enjoying a hot chocolate at a dry table.
The area had some pretty incredible springs where we could see water gushing out of the side of the cliffs and into the river.
Next stop was the ancient city of Tlos. This one was high on a hill so not only did we get to see ruins…
but we also had very good views of the Taurus Mountains.
Lunch.
The next two nights we will be in Fethiye. Our hotel is overlooking a marina.
We walked down to the harbor area and found a nice hotel on the second floor, overlooking the harbor front.
Then we
wandered around the small old town that was filled with shops, restaurants and
cafés.
